DASA Scholarships

DASA is awarding two $1,000 scholarships: the William B. Keene Scholarship and the Paul Carlson Dedication to Excellence Scholarship. These awards are intended for Delaware high school seniors planning to major in education in college. Below is a clear summary of eligibility and required materials — treat it as a checklist. Eligibility - The student must be a Delaware high school senior who has applied to, and is likely to be accepted by, a college education program. - The student’s school must have at least one administrator who is a DASA member. - Submission limits by school: - Most schools may submit up to two essays. - Schools with 250 twelfth-grade students may submit three essays. - Schools with 300 or more twelfth-grade students may submit four essays. - If a school receives more entries than its allowance, the school must select and forward only the allowed number of essays. The high school is responsible for submitting only the permitted number of essays. Required materials from each student (submit together) 1. Essay — 300–500 words on the topic “Why I Chose Education as My Career Field.” The essay must be typed or neatly written in ink. 2. Statement that the essay is the student’s original work and permission for DASA to reprint the essay for non-commercial use. 3. Statement of intent to apply for college, with agreement to provide verification of college acceptance when it becomes available. 4. Completed Form A (student information). 5. Completed Form B (description of prior experiences working with children). Please make sure your school follows the submission limits and that each student includes every item on the checklist.
