Think of this as your roadmap for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship. Read everything, meet every requirement, and give yourself plenty of time to pull materials together.

How it works
- The entire scholarship application is completed online.
- You (the student) will upload required supplemental documents when you fill out the online portion.
- After you submit, a school official or counselor must complete a second portion of the application online.

Timeline — important dates
- December 1, 2025 — Application available online.
- February 2, 2026, 7:59 p.m. — Online student application closes. Note: this deadline is after normal business hours, so help from staff may be limited. Submit early to avoid last-minute problems.
- February 6, 2026, 4:59 p.m. — School official/counselor submission deadline.
- May 2026 — Scholarship recipients will be notified.
- July 11, 2026 — Scholarship Recipient Celebration.

Eligibility — you must meet all of these
- Be a U.S. citizen and a Texas resident.
- Be a graduating high school senior from an eligible school (check with your counselor if you’re unsure).
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA becomes available in December—start it as soon as possible.
- Plan to attend an accredited, not-for-profit university in Texas.
- Meet the minimum SAT or ACT score requirement.

Quick teacher tips
- Start early: gather transcripts, test scores, and any required documents well before the February 2 deadline.
- Tell your counselor the deadlines now so their portion is submitted by February 6.
- Complete the FAFSA early—many schools use it to verify financial eligibility and it can take time to process.
- Double-check that your school is on the eligible list if you have any doubt.
