Greater Jacksonville Fair Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Greater Jacksonville Fair Association
Over the past 68 years the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair Association is proud to have contributed over 2.6 million dollars to local charities and awarded scholarships to worthy students who have exhibited a desire to further their education. The Association’s purpose in offering these scholarships is to encourage personal growth and assistance to qualified students planning to major in agriculture, veterinary medicine, and other fields of study.
To be eligible a student must reside in one of the following Florida counties: Duval, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Nassau, or St. Johns. At the time of application, the applicant must be at least a high school senior, enrolled or planning to enroll in a four-year university, junior college, or technical institution.
The Scholarship Committee will review only complete packets, which must contain the following:
- The application
- The applicant's essay, which is a one-page essay and briefly discusses the following:
- Applicant’s background
- List of any awards or special recognition earned from the community, high school, sorority, fraternity, civic, agricultural, or religious organizations in which the applicant is now or has been involved
- Participation and awards from 4-H, FFA, or Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair or local or state fairs
- Applicant’s leadership experience within those organizations.
- Three (3) original letters of recommendation. If possible, the letters should be written on the letterhead of the person making the recommendation.
The application, the applicant's essay, and the three letters of recommendation must arrive at the same time in the offices of the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair. Packets are due on October 1st or the first business day following that day.
Please do not fold or staple any part of the application packet that is being submitted. The complete scholarship packet may be mailed, emailed, or hand delivered. Packets that are complete (application, essay, and 3 letters of recommendation) and received by the deadline will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. The decision of the Committee is final. All applicants will be notified of the results during the first week of the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair where the names of the scholarship winners will be announced.
Scholarship winners should submit their class schedules (not a screen shot) for each semester to the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair. Upon receipt of each class schedule and school registration, the scholarship recipient will receive a check for the current semester. Scholarship funds will be dispersed to the recipient in (2) installments.
Participation in this program is open to all individuals regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, or national origin.
