Membership in the Alabama Cattlemen's Association offers numerous benefits, one of which is the opportunity to apply for a variety of scholarships. These scholarships have been established to support students who are members of the association or whose parents or grandparents have been members for at least two consecutive years. 1. The Tagged for Greatness Scholarship is available to incoming freshmen at a 4-year college or university who demonstrate academic and leadership excellence. The award for this scholarship is $1,000. 2. The High School Attending 2-Year Scholarship is designed for high school seniors planning to enroll at a 2-year college. The recipient of this scholarship will be awarded $500. 3. The Two-Year Attending Four-Year Scholarship is for junior college sophomores who will enroll at a 4-year college or university. The award for this scholarship is $1,000. 4. The Outstanding Junior Cattleman Scholarship is for high school seniors planning to enroll at a 2- or 4-year school who are members of the Alabama Junior Cattlemen's Association and involved in junior cattlemen/youth livestock activities. The award for this scholarship is $1,000. 5. The Collegiate Equestrian/Rodeo Team Scholarship is for competing members of a recognized equestrian/rodeo team at an Alabama college. The award for this scholarship is $1,000. 6. The Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine Student Scholarship is for students currently enrolled in Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Preference is given to a student who has a strong background in Alabama's livestock industry and intends to practice large animal medicine. The award for this scholarship is $1,000. 7. The Auburn University Department of Animal Science Graduate Student Scholarship is for students currently enrolled as a graduate student in Auburn University's Department of Animal Science. Preference is given to a student who has a strong background in Alabama's livestock industry and is working on a research project focused on beef or beef cattle. The award for this scholarship is $1,000. 8. The Martha Davis Service Award is for high school seniors who exhibit outstanding leadership and community or volunteer service involvement. The award for this scholarship is $1,000. 9. The Trade School Scholarship is available to students from Alabama who are accepted or currently enrolled in a trade school program in the state of Alabama. Preference will be given to students seeking careers in the agricultural industry. The award for this scholarship is $500. 10. The Ina E. Powell Memorial Scholarship is for outstanding female high school seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA who are enrolled at Auburn University with plans to graduate from the College of Agriculture, College of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, College of Human Sciences or College of Education. The award for this scholarship is $1,500. 11. The Cecil Lane Family Scholarship is for incoming freshmen in Auburn University's College of Agriculture from Alabama with cattle industry involvement and leadership excellence. The award for this scholarship is $1,750. 12. The Ed Wadsworth Memorial Scholarship is for junior or senior animal science majors at Auburn University with at least a 3.0 GPA who submit a 750-word essay on past involvement and future career in the livestock industry. The award for this scholarship is $1,500. 13. The May and Ned Ellis Family Scholarship is for students from Alabama who are upcoming juniors or transferring juniors into the College of Agriculture at Auburn University. Preference will be given for financial need. 14. The Samuel Upchurch Memorial Scholarship is for incoming freshmen at Auburn University accepted in the animal science or agriculture economics program. Preference is given to a student whose parents are members of the Alabama Santa Gertrudis Association. The award for this scholarship is $4,000 and is renewable if requirements are met. 15. The John Williams Memorial Scholarship is for students from Alabama planning to enter into an agriculture degree at a four-year university and pursue a career in the beef cattle industry. Preference will be given for those that plan to attend auctioneering school. The award for this scholarship is $1,500. In conclusion, the Alabama Cattlemen's Association offers a wide range of scholarships to support students in their academic pursuits.
