Ohio Cattlemen's Association Scholarships

Scholarship Sponsored by Ohio Cattlemen's Association

The Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation, in collaboration with various organizations and individuals, offers a range of scholarships to young individuals involved in the beef industry. These scholarships are designed to support high school seniors and current college students who are enrolled in a two or four-year college or university, studying a beef or agricultural-related field. The recipients of these scholarships will be recognized at the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association’s Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet in February. The application deadlines for each scholarship are provided alongside their respective names.

The Tagged for Greatness Scholarship, with an application deadline of October 31, offers four scholarships of $1,000 each. The funds for these scholarships are generated from the sale of Ohio beef specialty license plates at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles office.

Similarly, the Cattlemen's Country Club Scholarship, also with an October 31 deadline, awards four $1,000 scholarships. The funds for these scholarships are raised at the Cattlemen’s Country Club mini-golf course at the Ohio State Fair.

The Saltwell Expo Scholarship, sponsored by Saltwell Western Store and the Ohio Beef Expo, offers two $1,000 scholarships. These scholarships are funded by a percentage of sales from the official line of Expo clothing sold at the Ohio Beef Expo.

The Noah Cox Memorial Scholarship, in memory of Noah Cox who passed away in May of 2017, offers one $1,000 scholarship. The Cattlemen's Gala Scholarship, funded through proceeds raised from the Cattlemen’s Gala Celebration and Fundraiser, offers twelve $1,000 scholarships.

The Bill Tom Memorial Scholarship offers one $1,500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior or college student enrolled in a two-year or four-year Ohio college or university seeking an Agricultural degree. The recipient’s application will be evaluated based on their financial need.

The Bill Tom Memorial Success Grant offers one $1,500 grant to a young person returning to the farm. The funds can be used for purchasing farm equipment, cattle, or to offset the cost of learning a trade skill. Eligible applicants are graduating high school seniors through 25 years of age. The recipient’s application will be evaluated based on their financial need for the grant.

For Ohio State University students, there are two $2,500 scholarships available for members of the Ohio State University junior and senior General Livestock Judging teams. Preference is given to applicants who demonstrate interest in the beef industry and/or are involved in the Ohio Cattlemen's Association.

Lastly, two scholarships are available for third or fourth-year veterinary students who have demonstrated interest in practicing large animal (food/farm) medicine. Preference is given to candidates whose work, research or community involvement demonstrates interest in the beef industry or are involved in the Ohio Cattlemen's Association, and plan to practice in the state of Ohio.
