The Flinn Scholarship stands out in the landscape of undergraduate merit-based scholarships in the United States, both in terms of its scope and its value. Worth over $135,000, the scholarship covers tuition, fees, housing, and meals at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona. Additionally, it provides opportunities for studying abroad.

Understanding the Flinn Scholarship Application Process
The Flinn Scholarship application includes the following components:
- Forms that gather biographical data and information about your current studies and extracurricular activities, including employment;
- Two essay prompts and one short-answer question;
- An academic/teacher recommendation, which must be submitted separately by a high-school teacher who has given you a letter grade in a course;
- A leadership/service recommendation, which must be submitted separately by a teacher, professor, coach, employer, or community member;
- A copy of your transcript and school profile, which must be uploaded by your high school academic counselor on the counselor report; and
- A copy of your ACT or SAT scores. Please note that a minimum test score of 26 on the ACT or 1230 on the SAT is required. October is the last month of testing that will qualify for the 2026 Flinn Scholarship.
