Pittsburgh Member Chapter Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST)
The objectives of the AIST Pittsburgh Chapter Scholarships are to reward and encourage AIST Pittsburgh Chapter area high school seniors or currently enrolled undergraduate students preparing for a career in engineering or metallurgy by providing a grant of financial support during full-time attendance at any accredited North American college or university.
The Pittsburgh Chapter scholarship program will award three (3) scholarships. Any candidate applying for a scholarship will only be eligible to win one of the aforementioned scholarships.
The student must be the child (including step-child, adopted child or ward), grandchild or the spouse of an active AIST Pittsburgh Chapter member in good standing. A member in good standing is defined as an AIST member who has been active in the chapter for at least two consecutive years. Members of the Material Advantage program at local Pittsburgh Chapter area colleges are also eligible to compete for the scholarships. The student must be accepted into or currently enrolled in an eligible, full-time curriculum at an accredited university or college. Preference will be given to applicants studying metallurgy or engineering majors relevant to iron and steel production, but if there are no other applications, awards may be given to eligible student(s) studying other majors.
Scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Award Committee. The Committee consists of a Chairman (AIST Pittsburgh Chapter Member), up to four additional members of the Pittsburgh Chapter and the Secretary of the AIST Pittsburgh Chapter. The awards will be made without regard to financial need.
