Julie Enberg Memorial Scholarship

Overview
The Julie Enberg Memorial Scholarship Fund honors Julie Enberg’s devotion to athletics, particularly women’s hockey, and her service to the UMD community. Julie was a player and coach with the UMD women’s hockey program in the era before the sport attained varsity status. She passed away in 2002 at age 38, and this fund was created with gifts made in her memory to support female student‑athletes at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

- Award: $1,500 (one year)
- Grant cycle: Universal Application
Who is eligible
To be considered for this scholarship an applicant must:
- Identify as female
- Be enrolled at the University of Minnesota Duluth
- Have participated in intercollegiate athletics for at least one year but no more than two years at the time of application
- Be a graduate of one of these counties:
- In Minnesota: Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, or St. Louis
- In Wisconsin: Ashland, Bayfield, or Douglas
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Demonstrate commitment to her sport(s), to school, and/or to the community
Preference will be given to applicants who may not qualify for full academic or athletic scholarships and to members of the women’s hockey team.
How the award may be used
The scholarship may be applied toward expenses for post‑secondary education at any accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school.
Payment information
- Payments are mailed directly to the recipient’s school.
- Fall payments are mailed July 15–30.
- Spring payments are mailed December 15–30.
Transferring schools
If you plan to transfer, contact DSACF before you move. A transfer does not automatically move your scholarship to the new institution. If a transfer happens after scholarship funds have already been disbursed, reprocessing the payment can take up to 90 days.
