Science Ambassador Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Cards Against Humanity
Opportunity overview
- Cards Against Humanity offers an annual scholarship for a female high school senior or an undergraduate college student studying in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM).
What you must submit
- A single educational video of you teaching a STEM topic you care about.
- Maximum length: 3 minutes. Absolutely no exceptions—longer videos will not be considered.
- Upload the video to YouTube and set it to “public.” No exceptions.
How the video should be structured (think like a teacher)
- Make it a mini-lecture, not a personal statement. Pretend you’re standing in front of a class: state your main idea, explain it, and give a clear example or demonstration.
- Be clear, creative, accurate, and show passion. Original, memorable approaches are rewarded.
- You don’t need fancy equipment or high production values. Content and teaching skill matter much more than polish.
- Pick any STEM topic that excites you — it does not have to be your major or current research focus.
- Be scientifically accurate. We strongly encourage including a slide or frame at the end of the video that lists the sources you used. Any citation format is fine.
Helpful tips for a strong mini-lecture
- Start with a one-sentence “big idea” or question to grab attention.
- Define any technical terms quickly and simply.
- Use a concrete example or visual to illustrate the concept.
- Keep your pace steady and aim for clarity over speed.
- Show enthusiasm—teachers can tell when students are excited, and reviewers will too.
Review process and timeline
- Applications will be reviewed by an advisory board made up of women and non-binary professionals with advanced degrees across a range of STEM fields.
- Finalists will be notified in early 2026 and asked to submit additional materials.
- Five winners, each receiving $20,000, will be announced in spring 2026.
- Scholarship payments will be sent directly to the winners’ colleges or universities in fall 2026.
Quick checklist before you submit
- Video is a focused mini-lecture (not a personal statement).
- Length ≤ 3 minutes.
- Uploaded to YouTube and set to “public.”
- Sources listed in a final slide/frame.
- Topic is STEM-related and scientifically accurate.
If you follow these steps and teach something you truly care about, you’ll put yourself in a strong position. Good luck — I’m excited to see what you’ll teach.
