Cyberbullying Awareness Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by McCready Law
Overview
Michael McCready is a family man who watches his children and their friends navigate life online—and he’s seen how deeply cyberbullying can wound individuals, families, and whole peer groups. Unlike traditional bullying, cyberbullying can follow young people everywhere: it happens around the clock, across multiple platforms, and often involves people from outside a student’s local community. To help raise awareness and encourage prevention, the personal injury attorneys at McCready Law are offering a $1,000 Cyberbullying Awareness Scholarship to a student who cares about this issue and can propose practical ways to make online spaces safer.
Eligibility
- Open to current high school seniors, vocational students, college students, or graduate students who are legal residents of the United States (one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia).
- Applicants must be enrolled in a vocational program or a two- to four-year post-secondary institution. (High school seniors who have been accepted to college may apply—see transcript guidance below.)
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and good overall academic standing.
- Employees of McCready Law Injury Attorneys, their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, spouse), and anyone living in the same household as those employees are not eligible.
Application requirements
- Essay: 750–1,000 words responding to this prompt: “Cyberbullying is increasingly affecting children and teenagers across digital platforms. Describe how it impacts individuals and communities, and explain specific, practical ways awareness and prevention efforts can reduce harm and create safer online environments.”
- All essays will be checked for AI-generated content. If AI writing is detected, the application will be denied.
- Professional résumé listing academic and extracurricular or professional experience.
- Transcript documentation:
- Current students: official transcript from your current school.
- First-year college students, graduate students, or recent transfers: unofficial transcript from your current school and the most recent official transcript from your prior school.
- High school students: proof of acceptance to a postsecondary institution may be submitted in place of a college transcript.
- Preference will be given to applicants who are from or attending secondary school in the state (state of the sponsoring firm).
- The scholarship recipient will be selected during the month following the application deadline.
Submission and contact
- Use the scholarship contact form for all inquiries. Questions sent by phone, general email, or other website contact forms cannot be answered.
