Overview
Fort Lauderdale Alumnae Panhellenic awards scholarships that reflect our belief in building character through service and strong academic work. The Ralph H. and Ruth Frank Gross Memorial Scholarship was created in their memory to support education for government employees and their families who might otherwise be overlooked. Awards help fund college, university, or vocational training in Florida.

Important deadlines and amounts
- Application deadline: 11:59 p.m., April 30, 2025 (2025/2026 academic year).
- Award range: $500 to $2,500 per recipient.
- Status: Now accepting applications.

Who this scholarship is for
This fund exists to encourage self-improvement through education, particularly for governmental workers and their families in Broward County. It is intended for undergraduate and vocational study only; graduate students are not eligible.

Basic eligibility requirements
Applicants must:
- Demonstrate financial need and not be receiving any other scholarship or grant.
- Be a resident of Florida.
- Plan to attend a college, university, or vocational institute located in Florida, either full- or part-time.
- Agree not to use tobacco products, illegal drugs, or abuse alcohol for the duration of the award.
- Agree not to join a social sorority or fraternity while receiving the award (membership in honorary, academic, or professional Greek organizations is allowed).
- Note: If your employer offers a tuition reimbursement program, you may be ineligible.

Additional requirement for graduating high school applicants
- If you are a graduating high school student, you must have a combined SAT score of 1100 or higher (Critical Reading + Math) and submit official high school transcripts.

Applicants must also meet at least one of the following Broward County governmental-affiliation conditions
- Be a current full-time employee of a governmental entity in Broward County; or
- Be a retired or former employee who worked full-time for a Broward County governmental entity continuously for at least five years; or
- Be a former employee who became disabled while performing job duties and who had been employed full-time for at least five years by a Broward County governmental entity; or
- Be a spouse (or former spouse for at least five years) or a child of an employee who currently works full-time for a Broward County governmental entity, or of an employee who meets one of the three conditions above, or of an employee who was killed in the line of duty after at least five years of full-time service for a Broward County governmental entity.
