The You First Foundation is pleased to support families who’ve been adversely affected by traumatic medical events. Each year, we award deserving students with scholarships up to $6,000. Since beginning this program, we've awarded over $200,000 in scholarships.

The You First Foundation is a charitable organization formed by the employees of First Service Credit Union after the loss of a coworker and beloved friend from a brain aneurysm. The foundation’s mission is to improve the lives and educational opportunities of those affected by traumatic medical events.

Eligibility

This scholarship is designed to assist students, of all ages, in furthering their education. To apply, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a resident of Texas.
  • Submit a high school diploma or GED
  • Be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational school within the United States. Part-time and full-time students may apply.
  • Have a 2.7 minimum GPA.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation.
  • If applicable, provide college, university, or vocational school transcripts.

Selection Process

We will begin accepting applications on April 19, 2023 via the link below with submissions due by May 31, 2023. All applications are reviewed by the You First Foundation Scholarship Committee, and the winner will be selected and contacted by end of June 2023. The committee is comprised of foundation board members and operates as an independent panel to identify the best candidates.

Award Disbursement

You First Foundation will award deserving students scholarships up to $6,000 each. The scholarship is paid directly to the educational institution.

The 2023 You First Foundation Scholarship submission period will close on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Emailed, hand-delivered, or mailed packets will not be accepted.
