Sacramento Driving as a Family Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by AutoAccident.com: Sacramento Personal Injury Lawyer
At AutoAccident.com we think of ourselves as a family: we support one another, and we try to help people through stressful, unfamiliar experiences. Learning to drive is one of those big life moments for teens — the first time you sit behind the wheel it can feel like everything is new. Often it’s a family member — not always a parent — who gives the calm instruction, the correction, the encouragement that turns nervous practice into confident, safe driving.
We’re offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student whose family has helped them become a safer driver.
Essay prompt Write an engaging, roughly 500‑word essay describing how your family helped you become a better driver on Sacramento streets. Your “family” can be anyone you consider close and supportive — a parent, guardian, sibling, grandparent, coach, friend, or mentor. Be specific: describe what this person did (the habits, instructions, examples, or moments that made the difference). Concrete details and scenes are more persuasive than general statements.
Helpful tips from a teacher:
- Start with a short scene or anecdote that shows, don’t just tell.
- Explain specific actions or advice your family member gave and how you applied it while driving.
- Reflect on what you learned about safety, responsibility, or decision‑making.
- End with a brief statement about how these lessons will shape you as a driver going forward.
- Proofread for grammar, spelling, and clarity.
Judging criteria Essays will be judged on:
- Writing quality (grammar, spelling, clarity)
- Originality
- Inspirational value and how well you illustrate the impact of your family’s support

- Award: One student will receive $1,000 (nonrenewable). Funds will be paid directly to the college or university admissions or bursar’s office.
