Arkansas Future Grant
Scholarship Sponsored by Arkansas Department of Higher Education
The Arkansas Future (ArFuture) grant is the latest initiative by the state to enhance the education and skills of its workforce in a cost-effective manner. This grant is specifically designed for students pursuing studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) or other areas of study that are in high demand regionally. The grant covers tuition and fees for eligible students enrolled in qualifying certificate and Associate degree programs at public institutions in Arkansas. Please note that the grant is awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the ArFuture grant, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must have graduated from a public, private, or home school in Arkansas, or have received a high school equivalency diploma approved by the Department of Career Education. Alternatively, if the applicant has resided in Arkansas for the three years immediately preceding the application, they may have graduated from an out-of-state high school, private school, home school, or received a high school equivalency diploma approved by another state.
- The applicant must be enrolled either part-time or full-time at an approved institution of higher education, pursuing a program of study that leads to an associate degree or a certification in a STEM or regional high-demand field.
Continued Eligibility
A student may continue to be eligible for the ArFuture grant until they have:
- Received an associate degree;
- Received funding from the ArFuture Grant for 5 semesters;
- Failed to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as determined by their institution of higher education; or
- Failed to complete mentoring or community service requirements.
Grant Amounts
The amount awarded by the Arkansas Future Grant is equivalent to the tuition, fees, and other charges incurred by an eligible student, minus the amount received from state-supported scholarships, federal student financial assistance, and private scholarships.
If the student is enrolled in a four-year institution of higher education, the total amount of tuition, fees, and other charges will be calculated based on the average cost at approved two-year institutions of higher education.
