Education Matters Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Law Offices of Kevin J Roach, LLC

Value: $5,000.00
Awards Available: 1

A good education should be within reach for every student, but the reality is more complicated. Access to reliable supplies, technology, and support varies widely; the recent shift to online learning made those differences more visible. At Roach Law Car Accident Lawyers, we believe education matters. That belief is why we’re proud to offer the Education Matters Scholarship again this year.

Purpose of the scholarship
- This scholarship asks students to think carefully about the American education system: its strengths, its weaknesses, and practical ways to make it better. Use your own experiences — what worked for you, what didn’t — and explain realistic improvements that would benefit students across the country.

Award
- One winner will receive $5,000 toward higher education. The recipient will be chosen based on the eligibility and application materials described below.

Who may apply
- Current or incoming students enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate program in the United States.
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0.

What to submit (complete applications must include)
- A current resume with contact information.
- An official or unofficial academic transcript that clearly shows your cumulative GPA.
- A 1,000-word essay that:
- Discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the American education system based on your personal experience,
- Proposes realistic improvements, and
- Explains how and why those changes would benefit a wide range of students.
- If you grew up in, currently live in, or attend school in Missouri, please mention that in your application email (we especially encourage Missouri applicants to apply).

A few notes on the essay (advice from a teacher)
- Be concrete: use specific examples from your classroom, school, or community.
- Be realistic: recommend changes that can actually be implemented and explain expected benefits.
- Be clear and organized: a well-structured essay will make your ideas easier to evaluate.

If you meet the eligibility requirements and can submit the documents above, we encourage you to apply. Good luck — write honestly, think critically, and show how education can be better for everyone.
