AGMA Foundation Scholarship Program
Scholarship Sponsored by AGMA Foundation
The AGMA Foundation awards scholarships to outstanding engineering students at the Associate/Technical, Undergraduate, and Graduate levels. These scholarships exist to help build the skilled workforce the gear, bearing, and power transmission industries need. If you’d like to support the next generation of engineers, please consider donating to the AGMA Foundation Scholarship Program.
Before you apply
- TYPE all responses. Submit your application and any supporting materials that you are sending yourself in a single email to foundation@motionpower.org.
- Deadline: all materials must be received by the MPMA Foundation office no later than 5:00 pm ET on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
- Questions: contact Mary Ellen Doran, MPMA Foundation Executive Director, at Doran@motionpower.org.
What you (the applicant) should include in your email
Please provide the following items and information in your application email:
1) Proposed program of study
- List the courses you will take during the scholarship period, the number of credit hours, and a brief description for each class.
- If applicable, briefly describe any research or project work you will undertake.
2) Personal statement (500 words maximum)
- Explain your interest in and the relevance of your studies (or, for graduate students, your research) to the gear, bearing, and/or power transmission industry.
- Describe your career goals.
- Estimate the cost of your education during the scholarship period and explain how you plan to fund those costs.
- Describe any financial need and include any other information you want the committee to consider.
3) Community, volunteer, and extracurricular activities
4) Honors, awards, and other recognitions that demonstrate your work and leadership
5) Current GPA
6) Work, internship, and co‑op experience
- Give a detailed description of each position, including employer name, dates of employment, job title, and job duties.
- Note any experience specifically in the gear, bearing, or power transmission industries.
Materials that must be sent directly to the Foundation
Important: letters of recommendation sent by the applicant will not be considered. Recommenders and registrars must email materials directly to foundation@motionpower.org.
A) Two letters of recommendation
- We recommend one letter from an employer and one from a faculty member.
- Greater weight is given to letters from employers in the gear, bearing, and/or power transmission industry, and to letters from faculty in engineering, math, or science.
- The sender’s email address must match the name of the person providing the recommendation.
B) Official transcript from your most recent school
- Official transcripts must be certified by the registrar or another authorized official.
- High school transcripts are required only for technical/associate-level applicants and for students in their first year of undergraduate study.
- Transcripts must be marked “official.” Unofficial transcripts will not be considered.
- Transcripts may be sent with your application email or sent directly by the registrar to foundation@motionpower.org.
Reminder and submission summary
- Put all applicant-sent materials (items 1–6 above) in one emailed application to foundation@motionpower.org.
- Ask recommenders and your registrar to email their materials directly to foundation@motionpower.org; letters or transcripts sent by the student will not be accepted.
- Everything must be received by 5:00 pm ET on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
If you have any questions about the application process or the scholarship program, email Mary Ellen Doran at Doran@motionpower.org. Good luck — take your time, be precise, and show how your work and ambitions connect to the gear and power transmission industries.
