Spirit of Giving Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Wine Country Gift Baskets

Overview
Wine Country Gift Baskets awards three Spirit of Giving Scholarships each year to students who demonstrate a commitment to kindness, service, and generosity. This scholarship exists to encourage those values to remain central in our communities and in your future work.

Who may apply
You are eligible if you are:
- A high school senior or a current college student, and
- Planning to attend a college or other post‑secondary program full time for the entire school year following the submission period, and
- Enrolling at an institution located in the United States (this can be a four‑year university, community college, technical institute, or an accredited certificate program).

You are not eligible if you:
- Are an employee of Wine Country Gift Baskets or Houdini Inc., or a family member of such an employee, or
- Have previously received this scholarship.

Required materials
Submit all of the following:
- Proof of upcoming enrollment. If you are an incoming freshman, provide your acceptance letter plus one additional document that shows you have begun a relationship with the school (for example, housing confirmation, orientation registration, or an admissions portal screenshot).
- An original essay between 500 and 750 words addressing one of the prompts below.

Essay prompts (choose one)
- How have you advanced the spirit of giving in your community or abroad through service or other forms of giving?
- How has the spirit of giving affected you personally?
- How will your college or post‑secondary education enable you to serve or give to others?

How applications are reviewed
A three‑person committee at Wine Country Gift Baskets will read the applications and essays and select the recipients based on which applicants best represent the scholarship’s purpose and goals.

Quick checklist before you submit
- Are you eligible under the rules above?
- Do you have proof of enrollment (or acceptance + supporting document if you’re an incoming freshman)?
- Is your essay 500–750 words and focused on one of the prompts?
- Have you confirmed you are not a previous winner or a covered employee/family member?
