Drivers, for example, have a duty to follow traffic laws; when they do not, accidents and serious injuries can result. In your essay, explain: 1) Other situations in which a person or organization has a duty of care to keep others safe; and 2) What typically happens when that duty of care is ignored (for example, consequences for the injured parties and the responsible parties, or broader community effects). A few pointers: address both parts of the question, use specific examples to illustrate your points, and keep your essay clear and focused. Aim for about 500 words. Award and notification - One student will receive $1,000 (nonrenewable). - The award will be paid directly to the college or university admissions/financial office. - Winners will be contacted directly in July 2026 and announced on the scholarship web page. If you have questions about eligibility or submission procedures, check the scholarship web page or contact the program administrators for clarification. Good luck — write thoughtfully and honestly.
