Robert G. and Joyce Andrew College Scholarship Fund — What you need to know
Overview
- This is a need-based scholarship for students who graduated from a Rhode Island high school and plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at one of six Rhode Island institutions.
- The Fund was created by Bob and Joyce Andrew to help make college more affordable. Their gift is the Foundation’s largest-ever scholarship donation and is intended to support students for generations.
Eligible students and colleges
- Who: Current high school seniors or students who graduated within the last three years from any Rhode Island high school (public, independent, or private).
- Where: Must be accepted to, or currently enrolled at, one of the following institutions:
- Providence College
- University of Rhode Island
- Bryant University
- Roger Williams University
- Rhode Island College
- Community College of Rhode Island
Award details
- The scholarship is awarded based on demonstrated financial need and academic record.
- Awards are renewable for up to three additional academic years after the first award — that means up to four academic years in total — provided you continue to show financial need and remain in good academic standing.
- Scholarship decisions are released by the second week of July.
Selection criteria (what reviewers look for)
- Completion of the Universal Application (this may include essays, transcripts, a résumé worksheet, letters of recommendation, and other supporting documents).
- Evidence of financial need.
- Strong academic performance and intellectual rigor, as shown on your transcript.
- Eligibility as described above (RI graduate within three years and attending one of the listed colleges).
Application deadline and timeline
- Deadline: 11:59 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2026.
- Awards announced: by the second week of July.

- Attach official or unofficial transcripts.
