A word on the scholarship’s origin
The initial gift establishing this fund honored E. B. Miller, a third‑generation sawmill operator and a lifelong supporter of Ohio’s forest industry. Mr. Miller began working with horses and steam sawmills and later ran operations across the state. He helped develop the forestry curriculum at Hocking Technical College and chaired the OFA Paul Bunyan Show for many years. The scholarship was created to continue his belief that the forest industry needs well‑trained, talented people to meet future challenges.
Teacher’s tips for applicants
- Apply early and make sure you include proof of acceptance or current academic standing.
- Reapply each year if you want to be considered for a renewal.
- Highlight relevant coursework, extracurricular activities, and a clear commitment to forestry or natural resources in your application.
If you have questions about the application process, check the scholarship page for contact information or instructions on submitting the form online. Good luck — this is a great opportunity if you’re planning a career in forest resources.
