The Ohio Forestry Association Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2026 E. B. Miller Memorial Scholarship. Please read the information below carefully — it explains what the scholarship is, who is eligible, how the awards are used, and how to apply.

What this scholarship is
- The E. B. Miller Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing forest-resource education.
- One or more scholarships are awarded each year to qualified Ohio students who have been accepted to, or are enrolled in, an approved college, university, junior college, or technical school offering a forestry or forest-resources program (minimum two-year program).
A brief origin story (why it exists)
- The fund was established in memory of E. B. Miller, a third‑generation sawmill operator and long-time advocate for Ohio’s forest industry.
- Mr. Miller helped develop forestry curriculum at Hocking Technical College and led the OFA Paul Bunyan Show for more than a decade. Donors who memorialized him wanted to encourage talented students to enter the field and to strengthen the future workforce in forestry.
Purpose and allowable uses
- Purpose: to support promising students pursuing forest-resource education.
- Funds may be used for tuition, room and board, laboratory fees, or other education-related costs.
Grants — what recipients should know
- Scholarship awards are grants and do not need to be repaid.
- The number and amount of awards each year depend on investment returns.
- Students may receive the scholarship for multiple years but must submit a new application every year.
- A minimum of one scholarship will be awarded annually.
Who is eligible
Applicants must:
- Be an Ohio resident and a U.S. citizen.
- Be a high school graduate (or current college student in good academic standing) and have been accepted to, or be enrolled in, an approved post‑secondary program in forest resources (minimum two‑year program).
- Have attended high school in Ohio (this is a requirement; failure to meet it will result in elimination of the submission).
Selection process
- Recipients are chosen by the Scholarship Committee of the Ohio Forestry Association Foundation.
- Preference will be given to students attending Ohio colleges and universities.

- You may apply online using the form at the bottom of the scholarship page, or print and mail the application form.
- Make sure your application is complete and submitted by the April 15, 2026 deadline.

- Completed application form (online or printed).
- Proof of Ohio residency and U.S. citizenship.
- Acceptance letter from, or enrollment evidence in, an approved forestry program (or transcripts showing satisfactory progress for current college students).
- Any required essays, recommendations, or supplementary materials called for on the application.
