Overview
Each year, The Arc New York awards scholarships and honors to people preparing for careers that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities — for example, students studying special education, physical or occupational therapy, or related fields — and to those who contribute above and beyond to this work.
Award details
- Amount: $3,000 per recipient.
- Recipient pool: Awarded to full-time chapter employees of The Arc New York who are continuing their education with the clear intention of contributing to the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Payment schedule: The scholarship is disbursed in two equal installments of $1,500, one per semester.
- Claim period: Funds must be claimed within four years of the award date.
- Number awarded: Four scholarships are presented each year.
Who is eligible
To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be enrolled in a New York State degree program that leads to special education certification.
- Be a resident of New York State.
- Not be currently receiving another scholarship from The Arc New York (simultaneous awards are not permitted).
