When Candis joined Twiddy & Company in 2006, she didn’t just begin a job—she arrived during a test of character. Tropical Storm Ernesto was forecast to miss the northern Outer Banks, but instead it delivered record rainfall and widespread flooding to our vacation communities. Even though she was new, Candis stayed calm, greeted frightened guests with a warm smile, and helped them feel safe. Her steady, optimistic presence under pressure proved how valuable she would be to the team, and coworkers affectionately nicknamed her “Ernesto.” That nickname stuck as a reminder of the confidence and positivity she brought to every situation.
