Utom Conservation Fund Scholarship

The Utom Conservation Fund is a collaborative effort, overseen by a consortium of organizations* committed to the preservation of the Utom River and its watershed in southern California. Our collective passion extends to the region's wildlife, culture, flora, and waters. In a bid to foster a deeper appreciation and protection for this unique landscape, we have earmarked a portion of our funds for students who echo our enthusiasm for the natural world and the cultural heritage of the area. We are pleased to announce the availability of 10 grants, each valued at $2,000.
Eligibility:
The scholarships are open to the following candidates:
- High school seniors
- Junior College Students
- Undergraduate College / University students
- Applicants residing in the Utom River Watershed
- Tribal members (including unrecognized tribes) will be given special consideration
Application Process and Guidelines:
- Application Form: Submit an essay detailing your passion for the environment and the Utom River Watershed. If you have previously been involved in a project that showcases your interest in the environment, please provide a description. If this is a new area of interest for you, that's fantastic – we would love to hear about your passion and your plans for it! (Essays should be 500 words or fewer).
- Optional: You may choose to submit a video (1 minute or less) expressing your interest in the environment. Please upload the video to YouTube (unlisted) and include a link with your application.
- A letter of reference from an academic staff member confirming your enrollment in your current academic institution is required.
