Monroe Scheflo Memorial Scholarships

In 1985, the U.S. Durum Growers Association established a fund in honor of Monroe Scheflo, who served as the Association's President from 1982 until 1984. Tragically, Scheflo's tenure was cut short when he succumbed to cancer at the young age of 43. Born and raised in Newburg, North Dakota, Scheflo was a product of the local school system. After marrying Dianne Hanson in Minot, he pursued higher education at Minot State College, graduating in 1964. Scheflo then dedicated a decade of his life to teaching before transitioning to full-time farming near Bottineau, North Dakota.
Scheflo was a fervent advocate for Durum research, promotion, and export development. Rather than merely voicing concerns about the challenges facing agriculture, he took proactive steps to address them. Over the years, he collaborated with various commodity groups in an effort to enhance marketing conditions for his fellow farmers and friends.
In 2014, the U.S. Durum Growers Association expanded its commitment to education by establishing a scholarship fund. This fund was designed to offer financial support to full-time college students from durum-producing states who are pursuing degrees in agriculture.
Eligibility Requirements:
