Kids’ Chance of Nebraska Scholarships

Scholarship Sponsored by Kids’ Chance of Nebraska

Value: $5,000.00
Awards Available: 5
Deadline : Jul 30, 2026

Kids’ Chance of Nebraska (KCNE) awards college scholarships to children of Nebraska workers who were severely or fatally injured in a workplace accident. We award as many scholarships as the year’s funding allows.

What to know right now
- We open the application portal twice each year (Fall and Winter).
- For 2026: the Winter 2026 deadline was January 15, 2026 (that window is closed). The portal will reopen after Spring Break on April 1, 2026. The next deadline is July 30, 2026.

Who is eligible
- You have a high school diploma or GED, or you are a high school student in good standing who will graduate this academic year.
- You are the dependent of a parent who suffered an employment-related fatality or an injury that significantly reduced family income.
- You plan to attend an accredited vocational/technical school, junior college, undergraduate, or graduate program.

What the scholarship pays for
- Awards may be used only for tuition, mandatory fees, or room and board.
- Funds are paid directly to the educational institution.

What you must submit (before an award is made)
- Proof that you meet the institution’s minimum admission criteria. You can satisfy this by submitting either:
- the formal acceptance letter from the school, or
- documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) showing you meet the school’s minimum admission requirements.

Important notes about awards and disbursement
- Awards depend on the availability of funds and KCNE’s board decisions.
- Scholarships may be renewed, but renewal is not automatic.
- Funds are disbursed each semester after the board confirms the recipient is still enrolled and meeting the required criteria.

Quick checklist before you apply
- Diploma/GED or proof of expected graduation.
- Documentation of the parent’s workplace injury or fatality and its impact on family income.
- Acceptance letter or admissions documentation for the school you plan to attend.

If anything here is unclear or you need help assembling documents, check the KCNE website or contact us for guidance.
