Here’s a clearer, teacher-friendly version you can use for students and families.

History
The Charles H. Williamson Scholarship began as a trust in 1925, created by Mrs. W. W. Williamson (Charles Williamson’s mother) and Mrs. Walter A. Harris (his sister). Originally the trust funded a single scholarship for graduates of Lanier High School for Boys who went on to attend the University of Georgia—Mr. Williamson’s alma mater. In 1974 the scholarship was expanded to award multiple four‑year scholarships to both boys and girls from what is now Central High School in Macon, Georgia.

Purpose
To provide four‑year scholarships for Central High School graduates who will be attending the University of Georgia.

Who is eligible
- Graduating seniors of Central High School (Macon, GA) who have been accepted to and plan to attend the University of Georgia.
- Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and maintain that GPA while receiving the award.
- Applicants should demonstrate a caring attitude, high moral character, and evidence of positive leadership and citizenship.

How applicants are chosen
Selection is based on a combination of factors:
- Scholastic merit (grades and academic performance)
- Personal character and leadership qualities
- Financial need (the committee considers family circumstances, number of dependents, and evidence of work ethic)
- Indicators of potential to succeed, such as overcoming adversity and participation in school, community, or religious organizations

What you must submit
- Contact information (name and email) for one reference who has agreed to write and submit a letter of recommendation. That reference should be a teacher or counselor.
- Important: ask your chosen reference for permission before you enter their email. Once you submit your application, the system will email them with instructions for submitting the recommendation.

A quick note from a teacher
Start early, choose a reference who knows your character and work habits, and double‑check that your GPA meets the requirement. If you need help with the application or choosing a recommender, speak with your guidance counselor or a teacher you trust — they can help you present your best case.
