Overview
Each year Rotary awards as many as 130 fully funded fellowships to emerging leaders from around the world so they can study at one of the Rotary Peace Centers. These fellowships are designed to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and networks that people need to prevent and resolve conflict and to promote sustainable development.

What the fellowship covers

- Internship and field-study expenses

Why it matters
Since the program began in 2002, more than 1,800 fellows have completed the Rotary Peace Centers programs. They now work in over 140 countries and often hold leadership roles in governments, NGOs, universities and research centers, peacekeeping and law enforcement agencies, and international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank. In short: the program builds practical capacity and creates a global network of people committed to peace.

Who it’s for
The Rotary Peace Fellowship is aimed at people who already have some work experience in peace and development and who are committed to community and international service. Each year the foundation awards up to 50 master’s degree fellowships and up to 80 professional development certificate awards.

Program options — choose the one that fits your goals

Master’s degree programs
- Duration: 15 to 24 months
- Audience: Candidates who want an in-depth, research-informed education in peace and development
- Components: Classroom learning with a diverse cohort, plus a two- to three-month self-designed field study that lets fellows apply what they learn in a real-world context

Professional development certificate program
- Duration: One year (blended learning)
- Audience: Experienced peace and development professionals who are continuing to work while they study
- Components: Practical skills training, field studies, and the design and implementation of a social change initiative. This program is tailored for those who need flexible coursework and immediate applicability of skills.
